Minimum of filing documents in Iran
To obtain a filing date, it is necessary to provide the Iranian Trademark Office with trademark application together with a reproduction of the trademark and a list of goods or services for which registration is requested under the applicable class(es) of the International Classification as well as to pay prescribed application fees.

Requirements to the Power of Attorney
The Power of Attorney should be submitted within two months from the filing date. It should be legalised up to the Iranian Consulate.

Priority document
A certified copy of the priority document should be submitted within two months from the filing date. It shouldn’t be legalised or notarized. The translation of the priority document into Persian is required.

Opposition period
The opposition against Iranian trademark registration is 30 days from the publication of the registration.

Grant, validity term and trademark renewal
The official grant fee should be paid within 60 days from receiving the notice of allowance. The trademark in Iran is valid for ten years from the application date. This period may be renewed for consecutive periods of ten years within one year before expiry of validity term. After the expiration of a trademark registration term, a trademark holder may be granted a six-month extension term for the renewal by payment of a surcharge.

Use requirement
The non-use grace period in Iran is three years from registration. After its expiry, any interested party may initiate the cancellation action based on non-use to the Board of Appeal of Iran.
